Poroskaltim.com, BALIKPAPAN - Hujan deras dan angin kencang merobohkan beberapa bangunan di RT 9, Telaga Mas, Jalan 21 Januari, Kelurahan Baru Tengah, Kecamatan Balikpapan Barat, pada Minggu (8/2/2026) sore.
Atas kejadian itu, seorang warga yang berteduh dikabarkan meninggal dunia akibat tertimpa bangunan roboh tersebut.
"Korban bukan warga asli sini. Dia hanya berteduh karena hujan. Sehingga terjadi seperti hal yang tidak diinginkan," ujar Danposal Kampung Baru, Kapten Laut Kamarudin, saat berada di TKP.
Jajaran dari TNI - Polri, Basarnas beserta relawan berhasil mengevakuasi korban. Saat ini, korban sudah dilarikan ke RS Kanudjoso Djatiwibowo kota Balikpapan.
"Kami mengevakuasi menggunakan geregaji besi. Jadi kami potong-potong (reruntuhan, red) bagian yang menghalangi, sehingga korban dievakuasi dengan cepat," terang Kamarudin. (man)
